About the Cooley Lectureship
Dr. Denton A. Cooley, surgeon-in-chief, founder and president-emeritus of Texas Heart Institute, has contributed immensely to the field of cardiovascular surgery for children and adults, both in the United States and abroad. To celebrate his legacy, the Denton A. Cooley Lectureship in Cardiovascular Surgery was established to bring the world's finest visiting professors to teach future generations of cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons in keeping with the example established by Dr. Cooley. The lectures occur annually at the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital.
