Question:
Why would my mother twitch and shake when taking cardizem?
My mother was diagnosed with an enlarged aorta and also suffers from COPD. She is taking cardizem (diltiazem)and after taking it for a year she twitches and shakes frequently. This only happens after she takes the pill. It also makes her nauseated. Can you explain why this is and maybe recommend an alternative? Thank You.

Dear Jon: Shakes are not part of Cardizem side effects. We can't recommend prescription drugs without seeing the patient. Please discuss this with her personal physician. Sincerely,
