Question:
What are commonly used tranquilizers in patients who have cardiomyopathy?
Could you point me to where I might find a list of commonly used tranquilizers in patients who have cardiomyopathy and are in a high stress environment? My son is 26 yo and has a LV ejection fraction of 30%. He is also in a very tumultuous family situation. We as parents are very concerned that this constant stress will result in another heart failure. Aren't there any tranquilizers he might ask his cardiologist about? I and his mother are very concerned that without some as needed anxiety relief he may die. Could you provide a list of meds he might talk to his doctor about or point to any information on the net that might? We believe this may turn into a bad situation if not treated to some degree. Thank you very much.

There are many anxiety, sedative, antidepressants and sleeping aids that could be used. They should be discussed and prescribed by the experts (psychiatrists) and approved by the cardiologist/CHF specialist.
