Ask a Texas Heart Institute Doctor
Informed patients make better patients.

Question:

I have periodic sweats, palpitations, and am overweight. Is it necessary to see a cardiologist?

I have been breaking out with sweats and sometimes fast heart palpitations. My doctor wants me to see a heart doctor but I don't feel I need to. I am about 40 pounds overweight. I take blood pressure meds and for high cholesterol, and low thyroid.

Ask a Texas Heart Institute Doctor

I agree with your doctor. Considering the presence of multiple risk factors and episodes of palpitation, cardiac evaluation is appropriate.
