Question:
Should my husband's pacemaker improve his fatigue and lethargy?
My 83 yr old husband had a pacemaker implanted two weeks ago. His fatigue and lethargy have not improved one iota. He sleeps and eats well, but he moves like an old man. (hah) He had a femoral catheterization prior to the implant, and no blockages were found. Any answers?

Dear Jeane: Fatigue is a common symptom and has many causes, among them a slow heart rate. Age is without a question an important factor (we are all getting there). I would suggest you ask your doctor for other causes of fatigue, including depression. Sincerely,
