Space to talk and space to get away

I'm not a quiet person by nature, which is why you'll often find me in the LRC rather than in my office.

You might not have realized that the THI Library & LRC is split in two. The LRC (Learning Resource Center) is the part with the computers, where you can have a normal conversation when you need to. The Library, where the books live, is the quiet reading and study area. So, you'll find exactly what you need when you come to C520. — Ranger, thankful for friendly patrons to talk to

A patron spotlight

Patrons using the quiet library.Dr. Kumar Satya is the kind of fun, outgoing person with whom you'd like to have a cup of chai. His wry sense of humor is immediately evident—when I asked how he ended up at the Texas Heart Institute, he replied, "I got lost."

Dr. Satya was born and raised in India and went to medical school there. Currently, he's in the Cardiology fellowship program at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital, with a focus on the hands-on challenges (literally) of Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Satya is a library regular, when he has time, because he likes the collection, the ease of use of the facility, and because the "wonderful" staff is immediately helpful when he needs any assistance. And nice patrons like Dr. Satya make our jobs a pleasure. — Gregg, thankful for wit and kindness

Training gives you an edge

Nobody starts a job knowing all the skills they need to succeed. That's why we offer more than a dozen training classes in searching and computer programs. When we aren't teaching class, we run one-on-one tutorials and answer questions. We can help you learn how to organize a bibliography for a CV, search the internet, create formulas in Excel, and more. Call us to set up a time to gain the skills you want or to give your staff an edge in their careers.  — Sonya, just thankful for a few days off
