Overview

The study of adult stem cells and their role in treating cardiovascular disease is quickly becoming an acceptable mode of treatment. The challenge remains to identify the very best types of stem cells, refine our delivery techniques, and establish the most effective doses of stem cells.

Target Audience
Cardiologists desiring to further their knowledge of how stem cells play a role in heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, and peripheral vascular disease will find the discussions timely and relevant to their practice in providing improved patient care.

The goal of this symposium is to educate physicians on the clinical application of stem cells in cardiovascular disease.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this symposium, participants should be able to–

Summarize recent scientific advances related to the use of stem cells in treating heart failure, acute myocardial infarction and peripheral vascular disease.
Describe the mechanism of action of cell therapy in the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Discuss the use of stem cells in the regeneration of damaged heart tissues.

All symposium cancellations must be received in writing by March 13, 2009. The Texas Heart Institute reserves the right to cancel the symposium if enrollment is deemed insufficient.
